Data protection and system continuity in the Backup Data Processing Center is these days a necessity for many organizations. Possibly minimal loss of data in the event of a disaster or serious failure and predictable times of service restoration require primarily the creation of a professional concept of Disaster Recovery.
Our experts have just completed a project to develop a Disaster Recovery concept for a customer in the transport services industry.
In accordance with the customer’s order, a proposal for a target IT infrastructure has been prepared, the architecture of which will enable protection against disaster or serious failure, fulfilling the broadly understood functions of Disaster Recovery. The concept covers all the key layers of IT infrastructure in the server rooms and was based on physically independent locations.
For several months, TALEX engineers analyzed all areas of the Client’s IT infrastructure (including LAN, WAN, SAN, IP telephony, physical and virtual servers, arrays, backup and licenses held by the client) to finally propose improvements or implementation of proven and standard solutions that will ensure as little loss of data as possible in the event of a disaster and predictable times of restoring services provided in the company by IT systems.
The issue of cyclical testing of disaster recovery functions was also taken into account since only routine and well-trained procedures and specialized DR systems (disaster recovery automation) allow to maintain readiness and high efficiency of switching systems in a crisis situation.
Each of the examined areas of IT infrastructure was analyzed to determine the current state, define the target state, describe the required changes and threats, and forecast costs.
TALEX SA, as a provider of cloud solutions, also included in the concept the possibility of using DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service) services, which are increasingly popular among enterprises. The concept discusses and compares DRaaS with DRC solutions that can be built within the customer’s own infrastructure. This comparison considers both technological and cost aspects.
The concept was adopted with appreciation and we hope that it will be implemented soon, and thereby significantly improve the level of system availability and data security at our Customer.
