Czech Republic’s Vaclav Safranek became the winner of the 20th International Wielkopolska International Tennis Championship – Talex Open 2019. The Czech confidently defeated a representative of Ecuador, Diego Hidalgo, 6:3, 6:2 in the final on Sunday. It took Safranek, who was located on 425th place in the ATP ranking, less than an hour to beat his rival who was on a position higher more than 150 places in the classification, without losing a single set.
Only two Poles – Maciej Rajski and Filip Kolasiński – managed to advance to the second round of the tournament. Poles presented themselves much better in the doubles, in which Mateusz Kowalczyk and Piotr Matuszewski triumphed.
The winner received 20 points to the ranking and 3600 USD in bonus for the victory; doubles’ winners – 20 points and 1550 USD.
The Talex Open tournament, belonging to the ITF Futures series, was held as part of the Lotos PZT Polish Tour and took place like in previous years on the courts of AZS Poznań.
